Dry Washing & Filtration Systems For Biodiesel Plant
Durco Filters Biodiesel Dry Washing & Filtration Systems supersede traditional water washing or bubble washing equipment to achieve highly efficient separation of clarified methyl-ester (biodiesel) from the transesterified process stream. They use a unique magnesium silicate dry wash procedure to achieve production of high quality biodiesel fuel, capable of meeting or exceeding ASTM-D6571 requirements.
Pilot scale testing facilities are available to validate equipment specifications for Your specific biodiesel process in Your specific plant*.
Durco Filters Biodiesel Filtration Systems
In the Dry Washing Step, impurities are adsorbed onto a finely divided silicate particulate. Following this process, the purified biodiesel liquid must be separated from the solid dry wash adsorbant that is now loaded with impurities. Following a Filtration Step, the clarified biodiesel product will then be ready for storage and the solid by-product may be sold for a variety of uses including animal feed, fertilizer...
Durco Filters Biodiesel Filter Press technology is most usually specified for biodiesel / biofuel plant filtration where a low lead-time or low capital cost is an absolute necessity (see below).
NOTE: To obtain peak performance, optimum process operating efficiency, and maximum overall cost-effectiveness in your plant requires that you invest in Process Automation. Fully automated plant, or biodiesel / biofuel streams running over 170F, can only be served using Durco Filters Pressure Leaf Filtration Technology.

In general, modern Durco Filters Biodiesel Filter Press technology is well suited for use in many biodiesel / biofuel filtering operations. The major limitations are:
Minimum 1,000,000 gal/yr Biofuel Production Volume
Maximum Feed Operating Pressure is 100 psi (225 psi available)
Maximum Process Temperature is 170F (requiring specially designed, reinforced polypropylene, biodiesel filter plates).
If Your biodiesel / biofuel process exceeds either of the last 2 limitations, then a Durco Filters Biodiesel Pressure Leaf Filter is the preferred technology for you filtration operation.
Dry Washing & Filtration For Biodiesel / Biofuel, & Other Applications
Durco Filters Biodiesel Dry Washing And Filtration Systems are available as complete turnkey packages. Individual filter units can also be integrated into existing large-scale biodiesel / biofuel production, or indeed any general silicate (ex. Magnesol or Trisyl Silica) filtering plant.
