Following transesterification, the unwashed biodiesel stream is sent to a dry wash mixing tank and intimately combined with a small amount of magnesium silicate adsorbant. After this short "dry-washing" process, the process stream is sent to a biodiesel filter that separates the purified biodiesel liquid from the solid dry wash adsorbant. The clean and dry biodiesel product is now ready for storage. The solid by-product may be sold for a variety of uses including animal feed & fertilizer. |
